Double Sided Tape
The Tape Lab can customize each side of the double sided tape to meet your specific requirements. Our double sided tape has pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) that is exposed on both sides.
Double Sided Tape Applications
Stick to Skin
Double sided tapes are used to hold one side of a medical device or monitoring device and the other side will adhere to human skin. Stick to Skin double sided tapes are formulated to meet certain biocompatibility requirements for sticking to the skin. Examples of this are Monitoring devices (Constant Glucose Monitors, Fitness tracking devices, Health monitors), wound care and wound closure devices.
Fashion tape is double sided tape which is used to keep clothing in place. The main difference between fashion tape and normal double sided tape is that the adhesive is one that fashion tape is formulated to meet certain biocompatibility requirements for sticking to the skin.
VHB Acrylic Foam Tape
3M™ VHB™ Tapes are a series of double-sided acrylic foam tapes made from high performance acrylic adhesives. These tapes are able to form bonds with high strength and have greater durability and elasticity than standard double-sided foam tapes. The VHB Tape product range includes tapes with different core constructions and a variety of adhesives. All 3M VHB Tapes use closed cell technology, and provide outstanding environmental resistance and durability. The superior performance of 3M VHB Tapes means they can often be used to replace mechanical fasteners for joining a wide range of materials.
About Double Sided Tape
There are several carriers that hold each side of adhesive together in the construction of a double sided tape. The carriers can range from a film as thin as a fraction of a millimeter up to a thick foam that helps as a gap filler or possibly used as a vibration dampener.
Similarly, adhesives can meet specific needs from low-tack that allows for repositioning all the way up to a permanent bonding solution. A double sided tape that has a carrier can be produced with the same adhesive on both sides, or with different adhesives to meet the bonding requirements of different substrates.
